Taighat Slopes Fruit Tree Plantation – Sept 11 2025
Rotary planted 450 fruit trees on Taighat slopes with 33 students from Shala 2 Marathi School, 3 teachers, and participants including Rushi Holkar, Kiran Pawar, Aditya & Ganesh Gole, Aly Sevwala, Himanshu Purohit, Vishal Ranjane, Dr Sarwade, Bhushan Bodhe, Rtn Nachiket Bodhe, and Amit Bodhe.
Key Takeaways: Jamun, fig, mango, raspberry, pimpal, pomegranate, and guava were chosen for adaptability and nutrition. Terracing slowed water flow and prevented erosion, while mulching retained moisture, suppressed weeds, and enriched soil. Deep-rooted varieties ensured slope stability.
Impact: The project promotes sustainability, biodiversity, and community engagement, ensuring long-term ecological benefits.
Acknowledgements: Special thanks to Project Chair Aly Sevwala for leadership and to Kiran Pawar for lunch. Gratitude to all participants whose teamwork made this initiative a success.
